Just Us 4 Kids Project

Just us 4 KidsJust Us 4 Children is an organization started in February 2010.

The objective is to raise funds through various fund raising efforts to ensure that all children who have & are being abused have the resources required to ensure they are no longer abused. We also aim to increase the likelihood of prosecution and conviction of the perpetrator/s and secondly to fund the education and awareness of child abuse in South Africa.

Just Us 4 Children predominantly focuses on two particular areas:

Just Us 4 Children identifies cases of child abuse in which the relevant government institution is unable to manage the case to ensure arrest, prosecution and conviction. The result is that many parents or care-givers have to resort to private investigation which, in many cases, is not an option.

Our intention is to ensure that a decision to pursue a case against an abuser is not made purely on the lack of funds. In some cases funding is not needed for investigation. There are situations in which a mother has no option but to stay with the abuser because she simply cannot afford not to. In situations like this we will endeavour to provide the mother with the means to remove herself and her children from the father’s care.

All cases can be referred to Just Us 4 Children through specialist organizations such as The Guardian, Bobby Bear, ICare, Greyville – Place of Restoration and Childline. See our current cases here.

We believe that in order to fight child abuse proactively, South Africans must be educated and made aware of child abuse and what it is.

Schools and areas are identified in which a need is identified to implement an education and awareness programme but also where the community and/or school does not have the funds to do so themselves.

ECR Big Walk - Jochen Chislett has offered to enter the 5km ECR Big Walk on the 23rd May 2010. He will be running the 5km as many times as he can and will be sponsored for each kilometre. All proceeds will be donated to Just Us 4 Children. If you would like to sponsor Jochen or join him in his endeavour please contact us.

Just Us 4 Children and The Guardian Golf Day - The Golf Day will be held at Mount Edgecombe Country Club on the 2nd June 2010. Don’t miss this opportunity as it will be a fun filled day of happy golfing and a pleasant dinner. Raffles and an auction will also take place with a range of wonderful prizes. This event will be advertised on East Coast Radio on the ‘What’s On Diary’. Monetary donations and prizes in all forms are appreciated.
Costs: R350.00 per player or R1400.00 for a Four Ball Alliance / R2500.00 for a Corporate Sponsored Hole which includes a complimentary Four Ball to play

Dads and Lads – Just Us 4 Children in conjunction with TVG will be organising a wonderful overnight adventure experience for Dads and Lads in July this year. The details of this exciting upcoming event will only be unveiled in the next two weeks but you can be sure that it will be a fun filled father son bonding experience that will create lasting memories. This can also be purchased as a gift for father’s day as well. This is a fundraising initiative and proceeds will be given to Just Us 4 Children.

Fathers and Sons – This is a slightly different concept to Dads and Lads because it is designed for the father’s and son’s who are both adults and possibly don’t get to spend as much time together anymore. It is a boys weekend with a difference. The dates have not been confirmed but you can contact us for more information.

As you are no doubt aware all the schools will be closed during the FIFA Soccer World Cup next month. Unfortunately during this time there will be many children, specifically from more underprivileged areas who will spend most of their time unsupervised and therefore prime candidates for human trafficking.

ICare, C.A.S.T and Greyville – Place of Restoration will be pooling their resources to provide an alternative for these children during this time. Westville Baptist Church will be running programs for the duration of the 2010 World Cup in the Durban Central Area.

Herewith is a brief overview of the intended programme

Holiday Clubs - These will be run for the 4 weeks of World Cup. The Holiday Clubs will be open for all children of school going age. They will run from approximately 9-1 every day. We are expecting over 500 children every day. The major needs for this part of the program is for volunteers, food and funding. These programs will be largely evangelism focused.

Sports Clinics - Sports Clinics are aimed at children aged 13-18. These are run  from 1-4 everyday. They will be mainly focused on fun soccer programs and friendly matches. Other sports will be added in depending on volunteers and coaches.

Safe Zone - The safe Zone will be a place where people can come and "hang out". Games will be screened, games areas will be provided, movies and various other activities. This will also be a place for dance and drama, music and evangelism to introduce people to who Christ is.
